Swansea News Network is a community journalism start-up project that enables people to empower their communities by sharing positive news and progressive stories. The project is particularly looking to hear from people who want to share their community stories about living or working in Swansea. We believe in building things ground up. Evolving into the future with Swansea communities at the wheel.

We (and hopefully that includes you) want to share the good news about the place we live in. Swansea News Network hopes with your help to celebrate, promote and help build all that is good about Swansea including the people living or work in the region. This site is just a beginning. With community input and help, we hope to develop good plans for the future.

Swansea News Network intends to begin new conversations or add to existing ones and help encourage links between Swansea people, the city and local rural areas, Swansea area projects, groups, and communities.

Swansea News Network will particularly promote community, environmental, cultural and wellbeing projects, ethical and social businesses, new ways of doing things, collaborative effort or simply being.

Evolving into the future with Swansea communities at the wheel.

Swansea News Network will share new ideas, discussions, events, case studies, local and global perspectives, community news and events and help promote social, environmental and cultural projects. It will use a range of mediums to communicate those messages in a diverse range of styles with room for the imperfect, quirky, naive, scientific and eccentric.

Swansea News Network will look outwards as well as at our own lives in the Swansea area. We will inform about local and global issues, signpost about projects and sources of funding and link people making positive changes within the community. We commit to treating everyone – regardless of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age – with respect, and without judgment or bias.

Swansea News Network will share new ideas, discussions, events, case studies, local and global perspectives, community news and events and help promote social, environmental and cultural projects.

As Swansea News Network develops it will help organise events about local and global issues and link people making positive changes within their communities and the green and diverse cultural and social environment of Swansea area.

Maybe like Barcelona, Swansea can become a rebel progressive city. We want to understand the innovation happening in cities and the countryside, review how are food, energy and other needs are met. We will set out with the intention to build respectful relationships with each other and the planet. Treading lightly. Heard it before? Overambitious? Time will tell. Please join us and come along for the ride!
